Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving: The key to health!

Giving thanks is the key to health; mental health, emotional health, and even physical health. As a teenager I struggled to think positively, it was the founding reason I sought to become a professional counselor, to discover how to heal my negative mind. And only in the supreme kindness of the Lord, did He show me how His Word very clearly reveals the answer: give thanks in everything. (1 Thessalonians 5:18)

Giving thanks is not just for optimists. It is also not "a religious duty" as a Christian. Learning to have a grateful mind and heart is about being healthy and having endurance for the race set before us! Living from a mindset that is always seeking to give thanks to God for every difficulty, for every bite of food, for every relationship issue, this IS the key to being victorious in life.

You cannot read Proverbs without quickly concluding that thankful and honoring speech leads to a prosperous life. David was liberal with his praise to the Lord throughout the Psalms and would be forever known as the man after God’s heart. Paul was very adamant through his epistles that being full of joy and gratitude were the key characteristics of how unbelievers would recognize a Christian.  Every time Jesus did a miracle with food, He gave thanks to God for it first. These teachers of the faith knew the secret to living healthy and in abundance was to put one’s faith in the One True Provider, giving Him all glory and thanks...and then all our needs (mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually) would be met. (Matthew 6:33)

I send you love and faith-filled prayers this Thanksgiving, praying that the Holy Spirit continues to minister to you about the blessings and benefits of living from an attitude of gratitude. May thankful thoughts, emotions, and intentions well up and flow from you effortlessly, by God’s grace, and may this heart posture be healing to you and to everyone you encounter this holiday.

Gratefully yours,
